Jago manMohan Pyare

Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!

I have immense respect for our Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He has been an extraordinary technocrat who has always kept the country ahead of himself (except for the political compromizations thanks to Sonia Gandhi!!). However, I am terribly dissapointed by the comment he made in the latest CII meeting where he quoted the following:
- The CEO's are paid way too much
- They shoudl not do a lavish display of money in society for family events and weddings etc..
- Media should not display these vulgar display of wealth
- rising income and wealth inequaltiies, if not matched by corresponding rise of income across the nation, can lead to social unrest.

Let me tell you the basic facts
The CEO's as well as the entrepreneurs are the people who help the society by providing jobs, creating wealth for the nation, keeping us on par with the world, making us competetive with the rest of the world.
Simple economics tells us that the mroe the people (read rich) spend the better the economy as the money flows down the chain. If they just saved and saved then the service industry, the tourism industry, the infrastructure etc.. would all be affected.
Thier vision, focus and execution is important to keep us in the race.

The general public should look up to these leaders and get inspired by them and not instigated by thier social standing. We are not in socialistic old Russia. Entrepreneurs and CEO's should be rewarded. I am inspired by them and wish to follow on thier footsteps. Let's learn to generate wealth and not be a leacher.

The government should make policies that help conduce a better environment for entreprenual spirit. They should decrease red tapism, corrupt administration, vulgar spending on loss making government enterprise, excessive IAS babus.
They should promote entrepreneurship, make pur policies more flexible to encourage new business, promote FDI into newer sectors including infrastructure and energy, try to put a long term plan to social security, better health initiatives accessbile to all.

It is not right to curb down the business man to bring thier income down coz the govt failed to provide polciies to increase the income of the poor.

Dr Singh, you turned around our economy by opening up our economy and making us globally competetive. Why try to take a step back!!! Don't go left Mr President.

The poor do not need charity; they need inspiration. Charity only sends them a loaf of bread to keep them alive in their wretchedness, or gives them an entertainment to make them forget for an hour or two. But inspiration can cause them to rise out of their misery. If you want to help the poor, demonstrate to them that they can become rich.

Time of your Life

I went on a nostalgic trip this weekend as I was talking to some friends of mine and listened to some good old favorites. I was on you tube and was surprised when I saw some cool videos of MIT Manipal, my alma mater. Check out these cool videos.

I could go on and on about the good times we had back in those days. No lyrics can capture the fun, passion and the moments. Here's a couple that really get close...

Time of your Life
- Green Day

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test
and don't ask why.
It's not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth,
it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Hum, rahen ya na rahen kal
Kal yaad aayenge ke ye pal
Pal, ye hain pyar ke pal
Chal, aa mere sang chal
Chal, soche kya
Chhoti si, hai zindagi
Kal, mil jaaye to hogi khush-naseebi

Hum rahen ya na rahen yaad aayenge ye pal
